Description from the first book about the couple that kicks off the entire series
Shawna is a strong, well-educated woman who has worked hard for what she has, but true love has eluded her for a long time. When her friend Mikki convinces Shawna to keep looking, she eventually meets Virgil, a drop dead gorgeous rock star. He's incredibly smart, caring, and capable of lovemaking that puts everyone else in her past to shame, dedicating himself to pleasuring her in a way that has her crying out like she never has before.
However, in a world that is hardly colorblind, these two people from very different worlds will have to fight for what they have against jaded ex-lovers, the intense and dramatic disapproval of their elders, and Virgil's own haunted, violent past. Now they must both make pivotal decisions that will shape the rest of their lives Shawna must choose between Virgil and the more traditional guy that is practically kicking her door down to be with her. Virgil, too, must decide between a former bandmate who he knows is bad for him, or Shawna, the new girl in his life that so many disapprove of.
Shawna and Virgil are just the tip of the iceberg! Enjoy this ever expanding cast of characters as they explore some of the most passionate, dramatic and dangeous relationships of their lives in the search for true love.
This is a collection of Interracial BWWM romance novels all in the same world with a shared cast of characters. They contain some extremely sexy scenes and no cliffhangers!

I give this 5 stars. For a first time author great job. I sure did enjoy this little gem. This is my first time reading this author. This the story of Shawana and Virgil. Shawana is the church girl while Virgil is the privilege kid with demons nipping at his heals. These two on paper was not a match because they were so different in many ways. Shawana became Virgil anchor and light in darkness. I love how this author kept the story moving and engaging. There was never a dull moment with these two. There was some colorful characters in the story. Mikki her best friend and Virgil bandmates were added bonuses. Then no good book will be good without the antagonist and they were two good ones in the book. I highly recommend this book.Product details

Crossing the Line The First Trilogy edition by Aisha M Taylor Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Generally I find it hard to find a book of substance under 200 pages. Especially an interracial novel, however; the author was able to develop the characters and story line enough to make this a good read. I believe that there can be a follow up written about Mikki and Rob; there are so many directions the author could go with a sequel. That being said .. it's a great standalone and a sequel is not needed.
Virgil and Shawna romance story was inspirational, intriguing, and heartfelt. Wow I didn't even suspect that Mikki was in love with Shawna. But I was extremely happy to read that Virgil and Shawna made it through their trials and tribulation.. The group was right about how poisonous Janet is to herself and others... I was also happy to read that Virgil's mother was able to get help with her drinking problem. Good book Aisha M. Taylor....
After reading Shawna and Virgils's story I couldn't wait to move on to book 2. Aisha is a very talented author and she just pulled me right into the world of all the characters. Shawna is definitely Virgil's perfect match because she is his lifeline in more ways than one. Coming from a broken family she has the ability to keep him grounded to help him move beyond his painful past. He truly love and respect and without each other they will never be their best selves. Well written story. I received an ARC version of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book was full of surprises.... I loved the dynamics of the relationship between Virgil and Shawna. They were both damaged people who worked through their insecurities to keep their relationship together. Virgil was an alpha male who knew what he wanted and went after it. Shawna was vulnerable but yet strong when she needed to be. The sex scenes were HOT! HOT! HOT! I'll be reading this again.....The support characters all had their own stories to tell with lots of surprising twist and turns. Please tell me their will be a second book featuring Mikki and Rob. That would be a hot one to delve into. I really enjoyed this book... Kudos to Ms. Taylor!!!!
I loved this book. Shawna & Virgil (Alex) were two people who found each other at a time of need. Virgil had a past and Shawna really never had a life. I started to hate Mikki but once I realized where her nastiness stood, I understood. Janet deserved what she got. Shawna's mom surprised me with her little talk with Shawna. Her dad got sucked in a litlle bit too. I'm glad Virgil's mom herself together plus I love his dad. Please write a 2nd book about Mikki & Rob. I need to also know if what Janet yelled out about herself is true. Good Job !!
***MINOR SPOILERS READ AT YOUR OWN RISK***
Shawna and Virgil meet and can't stop their attraction, but Virgil starts off their coupling with untold truths. Shawna and Virgil jump right in with the sex and become a couple rather quickly. She finds out he isn't being truthful and lives at home.
Virgil had a money, drug, and alcohol problem, but she stays and ignores the red flags. Her ex and his ex enter the picture and they both become a bit distracted. He does one of the worst things a man can do during coupling and then he cheats, but Shawna stays.
Drama occurs with her ex and his but Shawna stays despite his 'mistake,' of cheating. Hmm...cheating isn't a mistake the last time I checked, it's a conscious act. Anyway, Shawna doesn't fight much, she accepts his lies and infidelity as if he'd forgotten to buy milk for the cereal.
Anyway theirs a HEA.
Pros
Started out great.
Different lifestyle
Well written
Some funny and candid moments
Cons
Virgil never really gets his own money.
Virgil said he would mess up, and he did. And big time!
Shawna is a doormat to me.
The transitions after a major event happening was a bit much. Shawna forgiving him and it being explained within a few paragraphs was wayyyyy too much. That should have been an entire chapter!
Virgil never really redeemed himself to me.
Did Virgil get treatment for his issues with his ex? I don't recall reading that he really did.
Love this authors style of writing. The only issue I had with Shawna, was how she gave up her own life but realized that she needed to get back in school and back to work. And I didn't like how she was so concerned about how Virgil wasn't sharing personal things about himself, but she didn't have the courage to show Virgil her "black" side. She felt like he wouldn't understand her love of R&B and Hip Hop and speaking in slang and other things that was very much apart of who she was. I think that even though Virgil was flawed he loved her that if she had shown him her whole self he would've love that about her too. I would love for this author to explore more of Shawna and Vigil , Mikki and Ron's relationships after they become successful. I like to believe as much as Virgil and Shawna went through they could survive his band's success.
