I just finished reading the book (yes, I read it :-). This is an extremely well written book with details and tons of examples. What make this book unique is that it is NOT a screenshot book, it is a book with real details and recommendations.In the past, several books have been written on the admin topic, but most have included only options and not recommendations and a thorough discussion of pros and cons is often missing in older books. This book is different. For example, on page 70, the book covers in-depth buffering options for data activation; on page 93 the new DBA cockpit is covered, followed by specific recommendations for IBM's DB2, MS-SQL Server etc. The whole book is organized around:
1) Basic Principles (for beginners)
2) NetWaver administration (for beginners and experts)
3) Management and support (for systems already in-place)
4) Appendices (with lists of t-codes and details)
In short, this is a great book that with 590 pages covers the material in-depth and at a level that is useful for experienced developers and admins. Now the trick is going to see how Olaf and Milco are going to keep it up-to-date with the new features of BW 7.3. This is a book that I have made mandatory for all technical architects working in my organization.
